Child Safety Standards

Carrel is for adults and older teenagers. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation, and this page states our standards and how to reach us.

Carrel is 16+

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. We ask for your year of birth at sign-up and refuse accounts below the threshold. Carrel is not designed for, marketed to, or directed at children.

Prohibited absolutely

The following are banned, and are grounds for immediate permanent removal with no warning and no appeal:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form, whether photographic, drawn, or AI-generated.
• Any content that sexualises a minor.
• Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to make sexual contact with a minor.
• Trafficking, exploitation, or endangerment of a child.

How we enforce it

• An age gate at sign-up. Accounts below 16 are refused.
• Reporting inside the app. Every message and every user can be reported, from the same screen you read them on.
• Blocking. Any member can block any other member immediately, without explanation.
• A moderation queue reviewed by a person. Reports are triaged, actioned, and recorded so the decision is auditable.
• Escalation. Credible CSAE reports are escalated to the relevant authorities, including India’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and the NCMEC where applicable.

Reporting to us

Report from inside the app wherever possible, because the report arrives attached to the content. For anything urgent, or if you cannot use the app, write to support@carrel.app with the subject line CHILD SAFETY. That subject line is monitored and prioritised above everything else in the inbox.

This address is also our designated point of contact for child-safety matters raised by app stores or regulators.

Reporting to the authorities

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first. In India you can also report at cybercrime.gov.in and reach Childline on 1098.

If you believe a minor has an account

Write to support@carrel.app. We will investigate and remove the account and its data.
